Who needs a simple foundation planting of gold mops and spiral trees when you can have a pollinator garden? Our beautiful plant selections bring color, texture, seasonal interest and bees to the garden! Now don’t worry! Even with children nearby, bees won’t bother humans unless provoked, especially if there is tasty pollen to focus on. Sparrow and Brambles planted lamb’s ear, salvia, Knock Out roses, weigela, catmint, iris, and many more perennials along with some traditional foundation greenery, like boxwood and Dragon Lady holly to create a deer resistant pollinator garden! Oh, did I mention that we also have a hidden rain garden on site to manage storm water runoff? For those wet areas our plant pallet consisted of carex grass, iris, amelanchier, turtle head, and wild blueberries that will suck up any extra water from the gutters!
Sparrow and Brambles also designed all the hardscapes for this fabulous space including the wet laid bluestone front walk, masonry walls and stairs, rear bluestone patio, and custom privacy panels in the back! Tom Caporaso did all the masonry work while our own Frank Toth designed and installed all the custom wood working! Our “phase two” for the garden is a kids tree house that is being installed this Spring!
