Rumson Old and New

October 3, 2014 by dennis@fakeplasticwebsites.com

This quaint home in Rumson is actually a family heirloom to the owner’s of this newly refinished home. The owner’s purchased the house and made amazing upgrades to the home and landscape but wanted to make sure some of the history of the space was preserved. Sparrow and Brambles designed the entire property reclaiming materials, using low maintenance and native plants, and kept the design simple and clean.

The existing deck was built by the homeowner and his father out of beautiful mahogany wood. That was a must keep, but they needed more entertaining space while still allowing for lawn space for their two adorable kids! As they entertain a lot, an outdoor kitchen was a must along with a fire pit, vegetable garden and play area.

The brick in the soldier course of the patios was reclaimed from and old porch and used as a great edging detail. Bluestone, Delaware River Stone, Crushed Gravel, and Techo Bloc products were used to create a comfy outdoor living space, that worked with their mid century modern decorating style.

These clients were great to work with and the outdoor space was a hit for their son’s birthday celebration.
