This newly built home in Summit, New Jersey was an amazing experience to design! The focuses of the project were the entryways into the front of the house, the lush deer tolerant plantings, a small entertaining space in the rear of the house, and a connection from the top patio to the lower open lawn space. Sparrow and Brambles worked with Tom Caporaso, from Caporaso Landscaping to create an impeccable bluestone entry court with masonry steps and piers. The hardscapes in the rear of the home included a gravel patio under the deck surrounded by a wet laid brick soldier course. This patio leads out to a natural Karney stone staircase.
Sparrow and Brambles believes in environmentalism and used local quarries and many native plants to have a more sustainable approach to the entire installation. To handle the storm water runoff we designed a rain garden, fully equipped with winterberry holly, iris, carex grass, and turtle head!
